May is like a sleepy yawn in the garden; things are just beginning to wake up, breathing slowly as they creep into remembering upward growth. Most things are only just peeking through the soil except for a few early risers like this beautiful rose bush. There were two of these beautiful bushes in our yard when we moved in and I've been trying to kill one ever since because its 1/2 inch thorns were dangerously toddler-face height. It's still coming back strong every year. My flowers are a hodge podge and I spent the morning uprooting Irises so that we can plant a fairy flower garden- all while my children played in the mud. June is the star month of my flower garden, but I'm determined to make sure we have more of a flower showing in the summer months!
